Cricket Format Guide
T20
20 overs per side, matches typically finish in 3 to 4 hours. This fast-paced format offers the most varied betting markets — runs per over, number of sixes, Man of the Match and more than a dozen other markets. Bangladesh Tigers are always a strong contender in T20.
ODI (One-Day)
50 overs per side, matches last roughly 7 to 8 hours. The ICC Cricket World Cup and various bilateral series are played in ODI format. Innings totals, partnerships and half-century bets are popular in this format.
Test
Up to five days of play with two innings per side. The draw market is also important in Test betting. In-play betting in this format of patience and strategy is highly tactical.
Leagues: BPL, IPL, BBL, PSL
BPL (Bangladesh Premier League) is the tournament closest to the hearts of Bangladeshi fans. IPL is India's franchise league featuring the best players in the world. BBL is Australia's and PSL is Pakistan's T20 league — cickex offers betting on all of them.
Betting Exchange
A betting exchange is a platform where you bet against other players rather than against a bookmaker. Odds on an exchange are set directly by participants, so you can often find better odds than with traditional bookmakers.
An exchange differs from conventional betting because you can not only back an outcome but also lay it. The platform takes a small percentage of winning bets as commission.
How it works — example:
Suppose Bangladesh's odds are 2.5 in a Bangladesh vs India match.
- Back bet: A ৳500 bet returns ৳1,250 if Bangladesh wins (profit ৳750)
- Lay bet: You take a position against Bangladesh — if Bangladesh loses, you win your lay stake
| Feature | Back Bet | Lay Bet |
|---|---|---|
| Meaning | Betting for an outcome | Betting against an outcome |
| Win condition | Selected outcome occurs | Selected outcome does not occur |
| Risk | Stake amount | Liability (depends on odds) |
| With a traditional bookmaker | Always available | Usually not available |
| Commission | Small % on winning bets | Small % on winning bets |
RTP and House Edge Explained
RTP, or Return to Player, is the average percentage of money returned to players over the long term in a game. For example, if a slot game has an RTP of 96%, then for every ৳100 wagered, an average of ৳96 is returned to players — the remaining ৳4 is the house edge.
RTP varies across game types. Slot game RTP generally falls between 92% and 98%. Blackjack can reach close to 99% RTP with correct strategy, while European roulette sits at around 97.3%.
House edge is the inverse of RTP. If RTP is 96%, the house edge is 4%. Understanding this matters because a higher RTP means more is returned overall. Keep in mind, though, that this is a long-term mathematical average — any result is possible in a single session.
Checking a game's RTP before you play is a smart habit. Choosing higher RTP games and staying within your budget are the two core practices of responsible gaming.
